Pride Week Kickoff

Where: Riverside Park Bandshell (100 Lorne St)

About the Event:
Join Kamloops Pride in welcoming everyone to Kamloops Pride Week 2023! We will begin with a welcome by a Tk'emlúps te SecweÌ“pemc Elder, followed by short speeches from Kamloops Pride board members and local government officials. Bring your favourite pride flag as a stand-in for a traditional flag raising event. We want to see as many flags as possible!
Accessibility:
-This event is outdoors and exposed to the elements. Be prepared for smoke and weather.
-Standing only or bring your own lawn chair
-Park access is wheelchair/motorchair accessible, but area is a grassy field
-Public washrooms in Riverside Park are gendered
-No music, lights, flashes, or loud noises at this event

Resource Exhibition
When: Aug 22, 2023 at 2:00-6:00 PM
Where: Mountain Room, TRU Conference Centre (1055 University Drive)
Tickets: Free event! Some booths will be selling items and some will have free resources and giveaways.
About the Event:
Looking for 2SLGBTQPIA+ resources in Kamloops and area? Visit Kamloops Pride's Resource Exhibition on August 22 from 2-6pm. Explore and connect with local 2SLGBTQPIA+ services, businesses, organizations, and allies that serve and support the community!
We are looking for community organizations, queer-owned businesses, educators, counsellors, knowledge keepers, and those with skills or knowledge of any topics helpful for 2SLGBTQPIA+ and ally community members. We will supply tables and chairs for booth holders.

-Parking is allowed in Lot J only (paid parking). Please pay for 2hrs (max), but you can stay longer.

SuperQueeros Youth Dance

About the Event:
The SuperQueeroes Youth Dance is an event celebrating queer empowerment and self-expression. Attendees are encouraged to dress as their favourite queer icon or create their own superhero persona. Allies are warmly welcomed, making it a safe and inclusive space for all. Join us for a night of pride, joy, and celebration as we come together as a powerful force of SuperQueeroes!
This dance is for youth ages 18 and under. We will have adult volunteers and chaperones. If you are a parent interested in volunteering for this event, please contact volunteer@kamloopspride.com.
Accessibility:
-The venue is wheelchair accessible (elevator and ramps)
-Please use the upper door to access the event. If stairs are a barrier, let us know and we will open a separate door with elevator access instead of stairs.

Drop In Art Party

Are you looking for a fun and creative event to meet new people and express your artistic side? Look no further! Join us and our friends at Kamloops Pride for a 2SLGBTQPIA+ event where you can come, hang out, and get creative! Allies are welcome and encouraged to attend as well!
-Choose from ceramics, acrylics, watercolours, resin, paint pours, sculpting, and more!
-Something for everyone to enjoy, regardless of skill level or artistic background.
-Registration is only $5, which includes 2-hour studio access and help from our professional artists.

Drag Storytime

About the Event:
Kamloops Pride welcomes all-ages to Drag Storytime featuring Kelowna’s Two-Spirit Sweetheart, Ella Lamoureux! Join Ella for some of her favourite stories and a craft! This is a free all ages event! Ella will be reading 47,000 Beads by Angel Adeyoha and Koja Adeyoha and The Princes and the Treasure by Jeffrey A. Miles.

FruitCake: Pride Kamloops

Join us for an unforgettable night of celebration and community at FruitCake Pride on August 26th at Nightshift on 5th in Kamloops! This year, we're taking things to the next level with an event that promises to be bigger and better than ever before.
Get ready to dance the night away as we take over the entire club for an unforgettable party. Our lineup of talented queer DJs will keep the beats pumping all night long, while drag performances will keep you entertained and mesmerized.
And that's not all! We'll be giving away amazing prizes throughout the night, so make sure you stick around for your chance to win.
As the official Pride party of Kamloops Pride, you can trust that FruitCake Pride will be the highlight of the season. Tickets start at just $23.00, so get yours today and don't miss out on this amazing event.

Pride Festival
When: Aug 27, 2023 at 12:00-4:00 PM
Where: Riverside Park by the bandshell (100 Lorne St)

About the Event:
Come out and celebrate Kamloops Pride with our collection of local artisans, organizations, businesses, and performers. There will be drag, musicians, DJ, and other acts on the bandshell stage from noon until 4 PM.
There will be a kids zone with activities and inflatable toys.
Accessibility:
-There are gender neutral porta potties on site
-There are gendered city washrooms in Riverside Park
-We respect your decision to wear or not wear a mask at our events
-There will be a low-sensory tent near the statue in Riverside Park
-Private security will be on site
-Wheelchair accessible (but field is grassy)

Pride Variety Show
When: Aug 21, 2023 at 7:00 PM or 9:30 PM
Where: The Effie Arts Collective (422 Tranquille Rd)
Tickets: $20 in advance, $25 at the door
This is an 18+ event - valid government-issued photo ID is required. Some acts involve striptease.
About the Event:
The Kamloops Pride Variety Show will have as much variety as the queer community has flags! Come celebrate the first night of Pride Week by supporting local dancers, musicians, singers, burlesque performers, and other variety acts! Join our lineup of local 2SLGBTQPIA+ and ally performers - Miss Coco Creme, Ivy Nyx, The Rainbow Puffs, Jade the Babe, Lia Bennett, Queen Jolene, and more! The only constant in this variety show will be our hostess Misty Vine! We will have Kamloops Pride merch, non-alcoholic bevvies, snacks, and unique tips available for purchase. Credit cards, debit cards, cash, and e-transfers (merch only) will be accepted.
Accessibility:
-Washrooms are single stall gender neutral. There is 1 accessible sized washroom.
-The Effie has either a couple of stairs with a railing or a wood ramp at the entrance
-Seating will be either regular height theatre rows or high-top tables and chairs (first come first serve)
-We respect your decision to wear or not wear a mask at our events
-Bright and/or flashing lights, but no strobing, loud music and sounds, use of fog machines and/or other chemicals or smells

Pride Movie Night

Where: Paramount Theatre (503 Victoria St)

About Strange World:
Join Kamloops Pride and Kamloops Film Society during the screening of "Strange World", a family friendly cartoon about three generations of explorers who find themselves in uncharted land with strange new creatures! Rated PG, this movie is fun for the whole family.
Come dressed up as your favourite adventurer to have the chance to win a prize!
About The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert:
Join Kamloops Pride and Kamloops Film Society during the screening of "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert", a thought provoking comedy about a drag queen and her two friends who travel the Australian desert to perform for enthusiastic crowds and less enthusiastic locals! Rated R, this movie will be sure to entertain with it's adult humor.
Wear your pride to have the chance to win a prize! We want the theatre to be filled with all the colours of the rainbow and more!

55+ Pride Bingo
When: Aug 24, 2023 at 1:00-3:00 PM
Where: Odd Fellows & Rebekahs Hall Society, (423 Tranquille Rd)
Cards: $2 each or 3 for $5 (pre-purchase below or purchase at event)
About the Event:
Join Kamloops Pride for an afternoon of bingo, mingling and refreshments! There will be 3 total rounds from 1-3pm, with time in between to mingle and enjoy some refreshments.
There will be 3 rounds of Bingo and prize pots depend on total number of cards purchased.
House Rules:
- Odds of winning are affected by factors such as the number of bingo cards sold, the number of calls a game must be won in, and the type of pattern that must be achieved.
- In the event of a tie, prizes will be split evenly and rounded up to the nearest $0.25 increment.
*Example*: if the prize amount were to be $10.37, it would be rounded up to $10.50
- If you have any questions, concerns, or complaints, please direct them to info@kamloopspride.com
- This event is intended to be a fun, social event, we are not professional bingo facilitators. Although we will ensure compliance with GPEB regulations, this is a one-time event, and Kamloops Pride cannot guarantee this will look or feel exactly like bingo in a regular facility.

-Washrooms are single stall gender neutral. There is 1 accessible sized washroom and 1 standard size.
-We request that you don't wear heavy scents to this event.
-There will be refreshments available and we can't guarantee allergen-free.

-There are no stairs and no lip on the the front door, making it wheelchair accessible.

Wear Your Pride Dance
When: Aug 25, 2023 at 8:00 PM
Where: Kamloops Legion (425 Lansdowne St)
Tickets: $15-$20
This is a 19+ event (valid ID required).
About the Event:
Celebrate Pride Week by Wearing Your Pride! Dress in the colours of your flag(s), all rainbow, or in a way that expresses you! Join us and other members of the 2SLGBTQPIA+ community (and allies) for a rainbow dance party! We will also be incorporating the 'Stoplight' theme with free glowsticks at the door, more details on that below. Music by Your DJ.
Stoplight Theme:
Choose a glowstick colour that matches what you are looking for (or not) at the party. Glowsticks will be at the front entrance and can be exchanged if your situation changes during the night.
Red: Here to socialize with people I know; I'll approach you if I want to say hi!
Yellow: My relationship status is complicated or I'm hesitant to interact with new people; ask if it's okay to talk.
Green: Single or in a polyamorous or non-monogamous relationship. Come say hi!
Purple: Happy to meet new people but just as friends. I'm in a relationship/not looking for more than friendship.

-Washrooms will be gender neutral for the night
-We respect your decision to wear or not wear a mask at our events
-Bright and/or strobe lights
-Loud music and sounds
-Kamloops Pride volunteers volunteers will be available throughout the event to help you with water, calling a cab, or anything else we can.

Ella's Drag Brunch

This is a 16+ event. All minors must be present with a legal guardian.

Pride Parade

Where: Downtown Kamloops (Victoria St from 2nd Ave to 6th Ave)
Tickets: Free event!
About the Event:
Join us for the Kamloops Pride Parade on Sunday, August 27th in Downtown Kamloops! The parade starts at 11:00 AM. The route starts at Seymour and 2nd Avenue, travels to Victoria St, and then travels down Victoria St to 5-6th Ave. The parade will disperse between 5th-6th Avenue.​
