Begin date: March 1, 2026 End date: April 1 2027 (subject to change depending on recruitment)

Institution/Organization Name: Queen’s University
Contact Name: Jake Novick, principal investigator bullylab.coordinator@queensu.ca (primary contact for participant inquires)
17jrn@queensu.ca (Jake Novick contact)
Purpose of Study: Understand the association of sexting motivations and sexual and mental health outcomes among gay, bisexual, and queer men Target Audience: gay, bisexual, and queer cisgender men, age 18-29, and have sexted in the past month.

Benefit to the 2SLGBTQPIA+ Community: This research can help inform targets for harm-reduction approaches to sexual exploration. Specifically, we can understand high-risk sexting pathways and identify those who may be at risk for poorer outcomes.

This research will be disseminated in research journals (after thesis
defense), and I will take efforts to communicate main findings through
knowledge translation to the general public (e.g., through PREVNet, and
other interested organizations). This research will be completely de-identified and data will secured in a password protected OneDrive file that only trained research team members can access. We know that there is no perfect way to capture diverse experiences and there is a lot of nuance to how people identify with sexuality and gender/sex. As such, we have made efforts to include many open-ended opportunities for participants to share their own labels, descriptions, and personal experiences. My research history has been mostly within 2S/LGBTQ+ sexting. I have attended workshops such as:
Rainbow Health Organization: LGBT2SQ Foundations Course; Trans Youth 101; PREVNet: Trauma-Informed Care for Sexually and Gender Diverse Youth (led by Dr. Wendy Craig’s team)
